March 7, 1854 - Patrick Shea was born in County Kerry, Ireland. He came to Manitoba in 1882 and co-founded Shea’s Brewery. An avid horseman, he built a stable of prize-winning Clydesdale teams to transport his beer around the city.

Before his death in 1933, he sold them to St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch and they became an American advertizing icon for their Budweiser brand.   For more see my blog post: Budweiser's Clydesdales and their Winnipeg Origin.
