December 14: Daniel McIntyre remembered; Fontana Apartments; Winnipeg Beach's first council meeting.

December 14, 1909 - The first council meeting of the Village of Winnipeg Beach is held at A. C. Duke’s store on Front (Main) Street. William J. Wood was the first mayor. For more Winnipeg Beach history.

December 14, 1965 - The St. Vital Bridge officially opens.

December 14, 1946 - Daniel McIntytre dies in Winnipeg. He was the superintendent of Winnipeg schools from 1885 to 1929. Daniel McIntyre Collegiate is named for him. For more see my West End Dumplings post.

December 14, 1905 - The first Strangers' Rest Mission House opens on Main Street.

December 14, 1913 - The Fontana Apartments on Stradbrook Avenue are completed.
