February 12, 1887 – The Winnipeg Press Club elected its first executive. The organization was established to encourage professional exchange and development of its members and is the oldest Press Club in Canada. From 1961 through 2008 it was located in the Marlborough Hotel. (More about its history.)

February 12, 1935 - George Jayhan aka "Shea" (34) was hanged at Headingley Jail for the murder of St. Boniface Police Department Sgt. John Verne in a shootout on July 24, 1934.

February 12, 2011 - The Manitoba Moose retired the number 12 of Mike Keane. He played 365 games for the team, most of them as captain, between 2005 and 2010. He was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 and currently works for the Winnipeg Jets organization.
