October 9, 2007 - Winnipeger Phyllis Yaffe
is inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of
Fame. She was the first president Showcase when it debuted in 1994. In
1996 she became CEO of Alliance Broadcasting and in 2005 the CEO of
Alliance Atlantis Productions.

October 9, 1938 - The Industrial Vocational Training School, forerunner to Red River College, opens at 831 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg.
