Born
in Saint Boniface, Roy won numerous national and international
writing awards including three Governor General Awards in Literature,
France’s Prix Femina, the Canada Arts Council Award and the New York
Literary Guild Award. Roy was made a Companion of the Order of Canada
in 1967.
