April 27, 1915 - A Royal Inquiry into the Manitoba Legislature Construction Scandal begins.
During
its early construction supplies went missing or were substituted
with substandard products. This led to part of the building's
foundation being torn down and rebuilt.
Thomas
Kelly, a noted local contractor, fled to the US before being
captured and returned to Winnipeg to stand trial. Brother Michael, the
other half of the Kelly Brothers firm, was found to have no
knowledge of the thefts.
April 27, 1886 - The village of Oak Lake organize their first fire department.
April 27, 1911 - Governor General Earl Grey lays the cornerstone for Westminster Church.
