February 20, 1955 – Winnipeg Transit's Carruthers Garage opened on Main Street. It was built to house trolley buses.

February 20, 1957 - Goaltender Glen Hanlon was born in Brandon. After playing three seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings, he went on to a 14-year career in the NHL that included the Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers. From 2003 – 2007 he was head coach of the Washington Capitals.

February 20 1959 - Television station KCND of Pembina, North Dakota was created. It began broadcasting in November 1960. The station eventually moved to Winnipeg as CKND, the seed for the Global TV media empire.

February 20, 1959 - Prime Minister Diefenbaker announced on the floor of the House of Commons that the Avro Arrow program was immediately terminated immediately. At least one direct Manitoba connection is Stan Brown of Brandon who was the head of electronics systems for the project. He went on to work for DeHavilland Canada. February 20, 2007 - It was announced that that Reverend Harry Lehotsky would be made a Member of the Order of Canada posthumously.
