Feb. 16: Triple hanging at Headingley; Victorias lost the Stanley Cup.

February 16, 1939 - A rare triple hanging took place at Headingley Gaol.

In May 1928, William Kanuka, P. Korzenowski and D. Prytuula, all from the Dauphin area invaded the home of an elderly couple in Fishing River, MB looking for a rumoured stash of cash. They beat the couple and 81-year-old Anna Cottick died of a heart attack. There was no money at the house. (Image: Winnipeg Tribune, February 13, 1939)

February 16, 1900 - The 1899 - 1900 Winnipeg Victorias were beaten by the Montreal Shamrocks and lost the Stanley Cup final series 3 games to 1.
