Jan. 29: Mary Dunn, policewoman; Edgar Prain, architect; William Evenon, comptroller.

January 29, 1928 - Mary Dunn died. A single mother of eleven children, she was one of the first two women sworn into the Winnipeg Police Service on January 4, 1917. She resigned in April 1920.

January 29, 1941 - William Evanson died. He came to Manitoba as an auditor with the CPR. From 1915 – 1929 he was the Comptroller of the City of Winnipeg.

January 29, 1958 - Architect Edgar Prain died. He designed dozens of Winnipeg buildings between 1911 and 1949.

January 29, 1986 - St. Michael's Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, R.M. of Stuartburn, near Gardenton, was designated a Provincial Heritage Site.
