September 13, 1979
 – Winnipeg    firefighter Captain Robert J. Hughes, 57, collapses and 
dies at the    scene of a fire on Moray Street. Hughes was born  and 
raised in St.   James and a 30-year veteran of the department.
September 13, 2007 - The Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
  was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations. There were 
 144 states in favour and four, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the  
United States, against.
