It paves the way to bring together the rural municipalities of Charleswood, Fort Garry, North Kildonan, Old Kildonan, the town of Tuxedo and cities of East Kildonan, West Kildonan, St. Vital, Transcona, St. Boniface, St. James-Assiniboine and Winnipeg into One Great City !
July 27, 1976 - Conservation Officer Allan Assiniboine drowns after an explosion on his boat while patrolling Lake Winnipegosis.
Three others survived and the death toll could have been higher
considering that there was only a single life jacket aboard.
