June 15, 1927 - Constable David George White (71) of the Winnipeg Park Police is run over by a car while patrolling Assiniboine Park on his bike. He died of his injuries three days later becoming the force's only officer killed in the line of duty. For more on White and the history of the Park Police.

July 15, 1869 - St. Mary's Chapel is established inside the Grey Nuns Convent on Notre Dame Street. It was the forerunner to what is now St. Mary's Cathedral on St. Mary Avenue. For more on St. Mary's history.
